BJP will get majority in both states, claims Zafar Islam
BJP is contesting 150 seats in 288-member Maharashtra Assembly while its ally Shiv Sena had fielded 124 candidates. The remaining seats were left for smaller allies. Congress, on the other hand, is contesting the polls in alliance with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra. Haryana Chief Minister and BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar and two-time Congress Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda are leading from their respective Assembly constituencies in the initial round of counting of ballots that began on Thursday.
