s the Supreme Court prepares to hear the politically sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case, the Centre said Tuesday that the entire 2.77 acre premises, within which the disputed structure stood before its demolition on December 6, 1992, cannot be termed as disputed.
But it has opened the historical fissures between the VHP’s Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and the Nirmohi Akhara. They had squared up in SC in 1994 too, with the Akhara saying that the Nyas was maliciously interested in encroaching upon the rights of Akhara “who is the sole ‘Shabait’ of the Bhagwan Ram deity”.
