CM Yogi Announces Rs 5 Lakh Compensation for Jhansi Tragedy Victims' Families, Rs 50,000 for the Injured

View In AppA devastating fire broke out in the neonatal ward of Rani Lakshmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi, claiming the lives of ten newborns, while 16 others were reported injured. Over 50 children were admitted to the ward at the time of the incident. Following this tragic event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance for the affected families. The Uttar Pradesh government has pledged a compensation of five lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased and fifty thousand rupees to the families of the injured. CM Yogi has also instructed immediate assistance to be provided to the affected families. CM Yogi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and ordered an investigation. He wrote, "The death of children in the NICU of the medical college in Jhansi is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. I have instructed the district administration and concerned authorities to carry out rescue and relief operations on a war footing. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured." Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and the Principal Secretary of Health arrived in Jhansi shortly after the incident, visited the site, met with the affected families, and offered condolences. CM Yogi has ordered a high-level investigation into the matter. The Divisional Commissioner and DIG of Jhansi have been instructed to submit a report within 12 hours. The fire, which occurred on Friday night, was reportedly caused by a short circuit.
