Gandhi Jayanti is an event celebrated in India to mark the birth anniversary of father of nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who was born on 2nd October 1869. It is celebrated annually on 2 October, and it is one of the three national holidays of India.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the 2nd Prime Minister of India and a senior leader of the Indian National Congress political party. He joined the Indian independence movement in the 1920s. Deeply impressed and influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, he became a loyal follower, first of Gandhi, and then of Jawaharlal Nehru.
