During the lockdown, PM Modi has made multiple addresses to the nation. In his latest address, he encouraged people to become more Aatm Nirbhar Bharat. But the data shows that becoming Aatm Nirbhar Bharat during this time period is not that easy. To even fulfill our daily needs we are dependent on China, as we import a lot more from China than we export hence our trade balance has hence been negative. Whereas our trade balance with America is positive. In the last six years, our trade balance has been about 56 lakh crore rupees. Bridging this figure is extremely difficult in the coming days. Therefore, talking about becoming Aatm Nirbhar Bharat seems to be just rhetoric at the moment.
