The number of alcohol drinkers in India is increasing. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) almost 11 percent of Indians drink alcohol. And one-third of this figure, rely on cheap, locally made spurious alcohol or desi alcohol. India falls in the second position after China when it comes to the consumption of alcohol. But it takes the number one spot in the world for whiskey drinking. Even in America whiskey is consumed less than in India. For every whiskey bottle bought in the world, 2 are sold in India. In 2018, when alcohol consumption saw a dip all over the world, India caused a 7 percent increase in the global whiskey market. In this video find out the state of alcohol consumption in India.
