Lion is called the ''king of the jungle" for its raw power and strength. But there are occasions when they fail to catch and hunt their prey. This is exactly what happened in a video going viral on the internet. The clip shows a giraffe having a narrow escape from 20 lions.

A 28-year-old entrepreneur, David Sher saw this exciting event while camping in Xai Xai, Botswana. The video was later shared by Latest Sightings on its YouTube channel.

In the clip, some lions can be seen preying on a giraffe drinking water by a lake. The giraffe didn’t notice them at first and keeps drinking water bending its long neck. Suddenly, the lions jump out from their hiding places and run after the giraffe. Once the animal feels the presence of the lions, it runs with surprising force, and manages to save its life.

"During our drive to the Xai Xai Campsite, where we were set to spend the night, we found ourselves driving along a sandy road by the river. We didn’t have much hope at the time of spotting anything, but that’s when we stumbled upon a pride of lions—a pleasant surprise!, Sher told Latest Sightings.

He further added, “It was a very serene few hours spent observing their routine, from waking to quenching their thirst and leisurely strolling. But the calmness was soon disrupted as they spotted the giraffe. The change in their pace was instant. They went from lazily walking to laser-focused stalking, slipping into hunting mode!"

Since being posted, the video has garnered over one lakh views and tons of comments.

"Giraffes have proficient fighting skills, can also gallop, and were used as gifts by ancient Egyptian kings to show strength. Little is known about this seemingly familiar animal," commented one user on the post.

"Ha! I knew as soon as it started running it would leave the lions in its dust," wrote another user.

"In the end it looked like prime Usain Bolt kicking dust!," commented a third.
