Delhi Metro is amongst the best transportation systems in the world. Several international leaders who have been to India and have got the opportunity to travel in Delhi Metro have been impressed by it. Now, US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, took a ride in the Delhi Metro and interacted with fellow passengers.
The US envoy travelled on the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro Rial Corporation (DMRC). The DMRC took to the microblogging site X, formerly Twitter to share the video and wrote, "His Excellency Mr. Eric M. Garcetti, Ambassador of the United States of America to India, took a ride in Delhi Metro today from RK Puram to Okhla NSIC Metro Station on Magenta Line. He also interacted with passengers during his travel & appreciated clean and efficient Metro system."
The video opens to show Eric Garcetti holding a smart card and saying "Delhi Metro Mera Metro." He then moves on to swipe the card at the entry gate and board a Magenta Line train. As he enters the coach he starts to interact with passengers. He also takes selfies with some of them and even gives a fist bump to a commuter.
After the travel, Garcetti also took to X and tweeted, "Wow! Delhi Metro, you make traveling so easy! I had a great time riding the Delhi metro for the first time and meeting fellow passengers. A shout out to the well maintained, efficient, and green public transport system that is among the best in the world!"
The post by the US envoy to India attracted over 6 lakh views and several comments.
One of the X user on seeing the video wrote, "Thank you very much, Your Excellency, for the appreciation of our nation's infrastructure and happy for your comfortable ride."
"Of course. No comparison with tube networks of the US which are sketchy, filthy, unsafe and uncomfortable. #DelhiMetro rocks," wrote another user.
"Good to see that how you and US is connecting with India and Indians.. hope this connection stay strong forever,' commented a third.
