Uttar Pradesh police arrested two youths after a video went viral showing them performing a dangerous stunt in a Bolero car with “Magistrate” written on it, on National Highway 9 in Ghaziabad. The vehicle, which had a siren installed on top of it, reportedly belonged to the Naib Tehsildar of the Ghaziabad Development Authority.
The police action came after a video of youths performing dangerous stunts on the busy highway went viral on social media. The footage showed the speeding SUV cruising through traffic as a boy hung dangerously
out of the passenger-side window. Meanwhile, another person recorded the entire incident from a car ahead.
The clip was reportedly shot in the Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad during nighttime. During the probe, police found that one of the youths performing the stunts was a minor. It was also revealed that the Bolero used to perform the stunt had completed its 10-year lifespan as a diesel vehicle, which means it should no longer be on the road, according to the rules in Delhi-NCR.
"The SUV, which had 'UP Police' written on it, was being misused by the two youths who performed stunts on the National Highway 9. The police have issued a challan of Rs 25,000 for the Bolero car and arrested both boys," a report by First Post quoted police as saying.
Authorities have, meanwhile, lodged a case in the matter and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances under which the youth got hold of the vehicle to perform the dangerous activities.
In other news, a minor was sexually assaulted and thrashed in the Brij Vihar area of the Link Road, Ghaziabad, after which the prime suspect has been arrested, the police said on Thursday. According to the police, the victim's father has filed a written complaint at the Link Road police station, in which he has accused a person from another community of sexual assault.
