A purported matrimonial advertisement for a 26-year-old "investor" from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral for its bizarre claims. The man, who claims to earn Rs 29 lakh per annum, says his income grows by over 50% yearly through a "self-discovered, self-taught" method of investing in the Indian stock market. He claims his income and net worth are "compoundingly increasing every year by 54%".
He also offers further insight into his investment strategies by proposing to share a 16-slide PowerPoint presentation via WhatsApp, in which he promises to explain how his approach to "safe investing" has made him financially independent.
A photo of the ad, which appears to have been published in a newspaper, was shared on X by Samit Singh, an entrepreneur and former banker.
While some social media users found the ad funny, noting that this rate of income increase would soon make the man one of India's richest people, others pointed out that there was something fishy, saying the purported ad was fake and possibly a phishing attempt.
