A video has emerged showing a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader beating up a woman inside a police station in Buldana in Maharashtra.

The BJP leader, who allegedly beat up the woman is Shivchandra Tayde, who is also the chairman of the Malkapur agricultural committee. The incident reportedly took place in April this year at the Malkapur Rural Police Station in Buldana.

A woman, her son and daughter-in-law went to the police station to file a complaint against Shivchandra Tayde, who is also the woman's brother-in-law and cousin, according to a report in India Today.

When the daughter-in-law started recording the BJP leader while speaking to the police officer, an angry Tayde snatched the phone and started slapping the woman, which was captured in the CCTV.

The video also shows the son trying to intervene, however, Tayde tried to hit him too. Meanwhile, the police officers were seen trying to mediate.

The BJP leader, on the other hand, clarified that his nephew was a drug addict and caused trouble in the village, leading to family disputes.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sushma Andhare shared a CCTV footage of the incident on X.

"The local leader of BJP and chairman of Agricultural Produce Market Committee of Malkapur Buldhana, Shiva Tayde, assaulted a woman in the police station with a village goon. Shame on the Home Minister. Shame on the Police Officer," the Shiv Sena leader said.
