Kerala: Rival Groups Pause Fight To Let Ambulance Pass, Viral Video Garners Praise, ‘This Is How 100% Literacy…’

In Kerala, a violent clash between two political factions was paused to allow an ambulance to pass through. The incident, captured on video, went viral for showing a moment of civility amidst the chaos.

A physical fight between two rival groups in Kerala's Calicut district turned viral after a video circulated on social media, capturing a rare moment of civility amid chaos. The clash occurred during elections at a local cooperative bank on Saturday, where tensions boiled over between Congress party members and a breakaway faction supported by the CPI(M).

The rebel group, made up of former Congress members, secured control of the bank's board of directors, which had been a Congress stronghold for 61 years. The election outcome led to violent confrontations between the Congress and CPI(M) supporters, Hindustan Times reported. However, in a display of civic sense, both sides paused their fight to allow an ambulance to pass through, as seen in the viral footage.

Netizens Compare Incident To Another Kerala Ambulance Viral Video

Once the ambulance cleared the area, the violence resumed, as per HT's report. Social media reactions to the incident were mixed, with one user on platform X saying "This is how 100% literacy looks like". Another user commented, "Some amount of Humanity still exists."

Meanwhile, a section of users also contrasted this incident with a different one reported the same day. In the other case, the owner of a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was fined ₹2.5 lakhs after obstructing an ambulance, despite the vehicle's honking and siren. "This is funny, bizzare and yet makes one proud. Just yesterday there was an individual from Kerala itself who held back an ambulance for over a kilometer behind his car. Man we Indians are one of a kind," a user wrote

The video of the brawl, where rivals displayed a momentary truce for an ambulance, drew comparisons to a similar incident in 2020, when people in Kerala made way for an ambulance during an anti-CAA-NRC rally.
