Joe Biden Ends Speech With 'God Save The Queen', Baffles Netizens. WATCH
Late on Friday, deputy White House press secretary Olivia Dalton provided an explanation to reporters that Biden "was commenting to someone in the crowd," but refused to clarify further.
US President Joe Biden has become known for his awkward moments during public appearances. In yet another such incident on Friday, Biden unexpectedly signed off a speech on gun control reforms by saying, "God save the Queen, man" leaving the audience perplexed. He was making the speech at the University of Hartford’s campus in Connecticut. As soon as he made the statement, #GodSavetheQueen began trending on Twitter.
It is still not clear why Biden said so and what he exactly meant by it. Late on Friday, deputy White House press secretary Olivia Dalton provided an explanation to reporters that Biden "was commenting to someone in the crowd," but refused to clarify further.
It is to be noted that "God Save the Queen" was the British national anthem under Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September last year. It was also used as a customary nationalistic statement during Elizabeth's rule. After her death, her son King Charles III ascended to the throne and the anthem was reverted to “God Save the King.”
