A video of a dog being cruelly dragged about the city by the driver as it is attached to a car has gone viral. Social media users have expressed outrage over the video, which was allegedly recorded in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on Sunday, and have called for the guy to face harsh punishment for his malicious treatment of animals.
The incident took place on a congested road in Jodhpur in broad daylight. Passengers in a separate vehicle that was pursuing the car took the video.
The footage depicts a guy driving a vehicle while a dog is attached to it by a leash. The dog was seen struggling to keep up with the pace of the car, swaying from side to side. A piece of fabric was also put around its lips. When a motorcycle rider observed the abuse, he approached the automobile in front of it and forced the driver to stop.
Rajneesh Galwa is the name of the doctor, according to a tweet from the non-profit organisation Dog Home Foundation. Local media sites cited him as stating that he was attempting to get rid of the stray dog that was living close to his house.
Taking to Twitter, the NGO stated: "The person who did this he is a Dr. Rajneesh Gwala and dog legs have multiple fracture and this incident is of Shastri Nagar Jodhpur please spread this video so that CP Jodhpur should take action against him and cancel his licence."
The dog had many fractures in addition to numerous bruises. The city's NGO Dog Home Foundation was also alerted of the occurrence, and locals arranged for an ambulance to be sent for the dog.
In a following tweet, the NGO also shared a copy of the FIR filed under the Animal Cruelty Act in the name of the accused. The NGO took the dog into their kennel.
A show cause notice has been issued and a complaint has been filed against the driver, Dr. Rajneesh Galwa. The automobile was confiscated by police, who also started an inquiry.
