A salon owner from the Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh was arrested after a video of spitting on customers during massages came to light on social media. The video, which quickly went viral, revealed Mohammad Yusuf repeatedly spitting on his palm and then using it to massage a customer’s face.
In response, the administration has taken immediate action by demolishing Yusuf's stall with a bulldozer. Charges concerning the offensive nature of his actions have been filed against him.
VHP Call For Action Against Salon Owner
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers also protested, demanding strict action against the salon owner. As per the report, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Shashank Singh and customer Pandit Ashish Kumar from Unnao filed an FIR. Following this, the accused barber was arrested and placed in judicial custody.
After the FIR was filed, police apprehended Yusuf, who had been avoiding arrest since the video surfaced. He is now in custody and being questioned regarding charges of offending public sentiments.

Mohammad Yusuf ran a roadside stall in Talgram Nagar Panchayat, Chhibramau, offering services such as haircuts and massages. The video led to a significant backlash, especially from Hindu organisations, with former BJP MP Subrat Pathak who condemned the act calling it “spit jihad” and demanding immediate police action.
The 40-second video was reportedly filmed by the barber himself. At the end of the clip, both the barber and the customer can be seen giving a thumbs up to the camera while smiling. The video has sparked backlash and netizens demanded action against the barber.
This is not the only incident; earlier in June, a video from Lucknow went viral showing a salon worker massaging a customer's face with his spit.
