The widely loved 'jalebi' became a massive social media trend after netizens used the word to troll the Congress, which was defeated by the Bharatiya Janata Party after the latter defied the exit polls and attained victory in Haryana for the third consecutive time.

But how and why did an Indian sweet become a means of trolling? The answer lies in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's October 1 public address, where he mentioned the "jalebi ki factory" during his election campaign in Sonipat's Gohana. Heaping praises on the famous 'jalebis' sold at the shop of the late Matu Ram in Gohana, he called them the"best jalebis of my life", suggesting that they should be sold worldwide. He also added that 'jalebis' should be exported to other countries to create employment as he shared his idea about a "jalebi ki factory".

However, this remark did not go down well with social media users as they used it against the Congress leader to take potshots at him after the grand old party failed to win the Haryana elections.

On a lighter note, here is how you can also make delicious 'jalebis' at home by following these simple steps.
