Grand 21-Day Celebrations To Mark Telangana Formation Day From June 2, CM KCR Announces

Telangana CM KCR has announced that the state will celebrate its Formation Day on June 2 in a grand manner and the celebrations will go on for 21 days.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday announced that his government will celebrate the state's Formation Day on a grand scale for 21 days starting June 2. The Chief Minister in a meeting with officials on Formation Day celebrations said that the 'historic' occasion of Telangana entering into its 10th year of existence should be celebrated in a splendid manner, reported news agency PTI while citing an official release. The state of Telangana came into existence on June 2, 2014.

CM KCR said that the state of Telangana became a reality after a long struggle and it is now making great progress. He said that with the joint efforts of the people’s representatives and the government machinery, today Telangana is achieving excellent results in all fields. To celebrate this progress, the celebrations will begin on June 2 with KCR attending an event in the newly constructed Secretariat. On the same day, the state ministers will also attend these inaugural events among others, reported PTI.

'Martyrs Day' will also be observed during these 21 days to pay homage to the brave who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood, the statement mentioned. During the celebrations, each government department will be allotted a day on which it would showcase its progress so far by screening documentaries. The progress made in drinking water supply and irrigation would be showcased on 'Water Day'. Similarly, on 'Power Day', the success of the electricity department would be presented, it stated.

A documentary film will be screened on this occasion through which the long struggle for Telangana statehood would be showcased.

The Golconda Fort and other historical structures will be decorated beautifully on this occasion, said the statement.

In a separate development, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the 'Brahmin Parishad Bhavan' which has been established for the propagation of devotional thought and spirituality on May 31.
