A court in Telangana on Thursday rejected the police's plea to cancel the bail of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar in the SSC question paper leak case. Hanamkonda district court dismissed the petition by the police seeking cancellation of the bail on the ground of violations of bail conditions, IANS reported. After hearing arguments from both sides for the last two days, the court stated that there are no grounds for cancelling Bandi Sanjay's bail. On April 6, the court ordered Sanjay's release on bail, subject to certain conditions.

MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar was arrested in Karimnagar on the night of April 4. Warangal police had named Sanjay as the main accused in the leakage of Hindi question papers of Class 10 exam from an exam centre at Kamlapur in Warangal district.

After the arrest, Sanjay was taken to a police station in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district and then brought to Warangal in the evening. He was produced at the residence of the First Class Magistrate in Hanamkonda on April 5. The magistrate had remanded him to judicial custody until April 19. The court granted bail the next day.

According to the police, Bandi Sanjay hatched a plan with the help of other accused Prashanth and Moutam Shiva Ganesh to leak the SSC exam papers by circulating them on WhatsApp.

The accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), and 505 (circulating any report or statement with an intent to cause alarm to the public).

Police have also invoked sections 4 (A), 6 of the TS Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices) Act, and Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act. The sections are non-bailable, and if convicted, the guilty may face a jail sentence of 3 to 7 years.
