Telangana: KTR Serves Legal Notice To BJP's Bandi Sanjay Over Students' Death Allegation, Demands Apology

Bandi Sanjay told a gathering during his 'Padayatra' on Wednesday that minister KTR was the cause of the death of 27 intermediate students in Telangana.

New Delhi: Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has served a legal notice to BJP state president Bandi Sanjay on Friday demanding an unconditional apology within 48 hours over his ‘baseless allegations’ against him and threatened to file a defamation case if the latter failed to do so. Earlier, Bandi Sanjay had alleged that Rao was responsible for the suicide of 27 intermediate students in the state.

Bandi Sanjay told a gathering during his 'Padayatra' on Wednesday that minister KTR was the cause of the death of 27 intermediate students in Telangana. The Telangana BJP even posted this video on Twitter.

In the video, Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that in the Intermediate exam results released in December last year, 51 per cent of students failed. Due to this, many students became mentally ill and committed suicide. One student tweeted that Minister KTR was the cause of his death.

Responding to the allegations levelled by him, the Industries Minister on Thursday took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “BS Kumar, if you don’t stop this ludicrous, baseless & irresponsible allegations, I’ll be constrained to take legal action. If you have an iota of evidence to prove what you allege, please put it in public domain or else apologise publicly for this BS rhetoric, (sic),”

The legal notice was sent through KTR’s lawyer to Sanjay at his party office in Nampally on Friday.

According to a report by Telangana Today, the legal notice said that intermediate examinations are conducted by Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education. “Our client does not have any connection or involvement with regard to conduct of such examinations.”

“Such statements were issued with the sole intention to gain political mileage by spreading a false and concocted narrative aimed at deliberately defaming our client,” the notice further said.

“Considering your (Bandi Sanjay) illegal actions, our client demands an unconditional apology in public within a period of 48 hours. In addition to these, withdraw all the allegations made in the said tweet and video uploaded and remove the tweet,” the notice said.

The notice further added, “In case you (Bandi Sanjay) fail to comply with any of the above, our client would be constrained to initiate appropriate legal proceedings under both civil and criminal laws for defamation and for various other reliefs.”
