Telangana HC Allows BJP's Yatra, Bandi Sanjay Calls Judgment Slap In Face Of CM KCR

Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained by police on Tuesday during a protest in Pamnoor, where he was camping as part of his 'padayatra'.

New Delhi: The Telangana High Court has permitted Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar to go ahead with his 'Praja Sangrama Padyatra'. The padayatra was stopped by police in Jangaon on August 23 citing law and order issues.

The order came after BJP moved court challenging a notice by the Warangal Commissionerate Police on Tuesday to stop the 'padayatra' in Jangaon district.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained by police on Tuesday during a protest in Pamnoor, where he was camping as part of his 'padayatra'. He was then shifted to his residence in Karimnagar.

This triggered a massive war of words between the ruling TRS and the BJP.

Welcoming the Telangana High Court's decision to permit the 'Praja Sangrama Yatra', Bandi Sanjay said "the judgement was a slap in the face of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who is seeking to divert the people's attention from the Delhi liquor scam involving his family".

Kumar, who represents Karimnagar in Lok Sabha, said the BJP would resume the 'padayatra' immediately.

Kumar alleged that KCR was conspiring to start communal riots in Hyderabad "only to divert the people's attention from the nation-wide debate on his family's involvement in the Delhi liquor scam and shift the blame of triggering communal violence to the BJP".

The state BJP chief mentioned that there were no communal riots in any of the BJP-ruled states, even when the Centre took bold decisions like the scrapping of Article 370, abolition of Triple Talaq and the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

He said that stand-up comedian Munwar Farooqui, who had made disparaging comments against Lord Ram and Sita, was part of the conspiracy hatched by KCR in collusion with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

"This was the root cause of the communal troubles in Hyderabad, which KCR wanted to use for political mileage by blaming the BJP," Kumar said and appealed to the people to maintain restraint and not fall prey to the wily tactics of the chief minister.

The third phase of Kumar's 'padayatra' began on August 2 and is scheduled to conclude on August 27. BJP national president J P Nadda will attend a public meeting at the end of the third phase of the 'padayatra'.
