Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao inaugurated high-end medical diagnostic equipment, a state-of-the-art lab facility that can conduct emergency heart surgeries and CT scans at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Tuesday.


Admitting that the institution has sanitary problems, the health minister assured that the government is aiming to fix the issues by hiring new contractors as the current contractor's services were inadequate.


Speaking to the media, he stated that the latest mortuary had been sanctioned for a sum of Rs 5 crores. Each year the OGH mortuary does around 4,500-5,000 Post Mortem Examinations (PME), according to reports.


Osmania hospital already had two CT scan machines, and the Minister inaugurated the third one on Tuesday. Besides medical diagnostics, OGH will add additional 50 ICU beds as well as new ventilators in the coming months. OGH will also open a new morgue, that costs the government around Rs 5 crore.

The health authorities will apply for certification from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers after upgrading medical infrastructure (NABH), said Harish Rao.


The state government is going to great lengths to guarantee that Osmania hospital has contemporary medical diagnostics and health care services. We are adding more health care services under Aarogyasri, and Ayushman Bharat health insurance schemes, said Harish Rao.


The health minister stated that they would strive to conclude a court matter involving the Osmania building construction as soon as possible. CM KCR would take the right decision as soon as the court verdict came, he concluded.
