Chennai: The Director Of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Wednesday started to raid the residence and offices of former AIADMK Electricity Minister, Thangamani, across Tamil Nadu for allegedly amassing wealth to the turn of Rs 4.85 crore. The DVAC is currently raiding 69 places linked to Thangamani in places including Chennai, Namakkal, and Erode.
According to a report on ABP Nadu, Minister Thangamani was one of the top leaders of AIADMK and a confidant of former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Currently, the raids are being conducted with the accusation that the former Minister amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 4.68 crore and he invested in properties and cryptocurrencies.

The DVAC has also registered a complaint against Minister Thangamani, his wife Santhi, and his son Dharanidharan in Namakkal.
The FIR by DVAC said, "The value of assets acquired by A-1 (Thangamani) in his name, his wife and son's name between May 23, 2016, to May 31, 2020 was Rs 7,45,80,301."
"Likely savings of Thangamani, his wife and son during the check period between May 23, 2016, to May 31, 2020 was Rs 2, 60,08,282," it said.
Hence, the FIR mentioning the amassed wealth said, "The quantum of assets disproportionately acquired by the accused P Thangamani in his name, his wife and son during the period between May 23, 2016 to May 31, 2020 was Rs 4,85,72,019."
The preliminary investigation also reportedly revealed that Minister Thangamani has property in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and raids are also taking place in four properties located in the neighbouring state. The raids started at 6.30 PM on Wednesday.
