Telangana: KT Rama Rao Assures Relief For Farmers Who Suffered Crop Damage Due To Unseasonal Rains

With more rainfall and hail storms expected in the next couple of days, KT Rama Rao asked officials to be available at the field level.

With several Telangana farmers affected due to unseasonal rains and hail storms, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president and IT Minister KT Rama Rao said the government would take all administrative and relief measures to help them. KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, requested party MLAs and other public representatives to undertake field visits in their respective constituencies and take a stock of the situation.

With more rain expected in the next couple of days, KTR requested administrative officials to be available at the field level. 
 
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao went on an inspection of the areas that saw crop damage in the Siddipet district and promised the farmers that he would take up the issue with CM K Chandrashekhar Rao. The minister asked the authorities to undertake assessment of the crop loss on a war-footing.
 
Last month, around 2.28 lakh acres of farmland were submerged due to unprecedented rains, resulting in significant losses for tenant farmers. CM KCR had then visited the hailstorm-affected regions and announced relief and rehabilitation support of Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers. However, after a survey the agriculture department decided to pay compensation to1.51 lakh acres. Officials said the money will be deposited in the bank accounts of 1,30,988 farmers.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in several parts of Telangana over the next two days.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Department said that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph, hailstorms, and heavy rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bhim, Asifabad, Manchiryala, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubabad,Warangal, Hanamkonda, Sidipet,Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy of Telangana.
