A senior Telangana police official was booked on the accusation of stalking a woman employed in a state-run Power Distribution Company, police informed on Sunday. A case was registered against the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Crime Investigation Department (CID) under IPC Section 354-D (stalking) based on a complaint lodged by the woman at Chaitanyapuri Police Station in Hyderabad on Saturday, news agency PTI reported an official as saying.


According to PTI's report, the woman stated that while she was preparing for national competitions at Saroornagar Stadium in the city when the officer told her that they are conducting classes and asked her to attend them. She agreed to attend the classes as he was a senior police official. He also took her phone number, as she mentioned in her complaint.

According to the police complainant, the senior CID official used to send quotations, romantic old Hindi songs, and videos showing different types of sarees and pictures to her.


The cop also asked her to send a photograph of her and allegedly asked her to wear a saree several times while attending classes, she stated.


The woman said she did not oblige and stopped responding to him for a year.


As per the report, she recently called him in connection with an accident case when he allegedly expressed to her that he wanted to maintain friendship and help her by all means or otherwise he would stay away.


Based on the complaint, a police case was registered against the senior CID official and a probe into the matter is underway.
