Rinku Singh became an overnight star after he smashed 5 consecutive sixes in an Indian Premier League match against Gujarat Titans while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. After his sensational performance, the left-hand batter even got an India call. He achieved the feat after he took on pacer Yash Dayal and hammered 5 consecutive sixes on the final 5 balls.
During an interview with the BCCI, the left-hander talked about those five maximums and how his life evolved after that milestone. "After those five sixes life changed a lot. People knew me at the time but I was not that popular after that lot of people came to know about me," he said.
"It was a special innings since that knock everyone started to call me lord," he added.
The Uttar Pradesh-based batter also opened up about his India selection and said his family always wanted to see him play for India.
“Everyone at home wanted me to play for India and when I got selected everyone danced. Everyone was happy," Rinku said on BCCI TV.
Rinku will be in the Indian team that will be going to China to take part in the upcoming Asian Games. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India declared the India’s squad that will be playing in the Asian games. Consistent performer Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the skipper of the side who will start locking horns in the tournament from September 23 to October 8. The event will be taking place in a T20 format.
