After facing criticism over Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy's alleged remark that three hours of free power supply was enough for farmers, Congress accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of distorting his statement. Reddy has come under fire for allegedly saying that three hours of free power supply was enough for farmers and 24x7 free power was not required.

In protest against Revanth Reddy's statement, the BRS government organised demonstrations across the state on Wednesday and even burnt his effigies.

The Congress, in turn, called for protests at power substations, accusing the BRS government of committing fraud in the name of free power to farmers. The protesters raised slogans against the state government and burnt effigies of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Congress leaders challenged the BRS government to provide evidence of supplying free electricity to farmers in the state.

The AICC in-charge for Telangana, Manikrao Thakare, alleged that the BRS distorted Revanth Reddy's statement and accused the party of spreading lies due to its fear of the growing popularity of the Congress party in the state. Thakare emphasised that the Congress party was committed to the welfare of farmers and would promise 24-hour free electricity if it was voted to power.

Thakare also criticised the BRS for allegedly failing to fulfill its promises related to farmers' welfare. He claimed that the BRS had gone back on its promise to waive crop loans and also accused them of not providing crop insurance or ensuring minimum support prices (MSP) for agricultural produce.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has made a statement regarding the provision of 24-hour free power by the BRS government. He declared that if the government could prove that they were indeed providing continuous free power, he would resign from Parliament. Reddy also questioned why the government has failed to pay salaries to electricity employees.
