The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers and leaders, including party's MLC K Kavitha, protested in Hyderabad over state Congress chief Revanth Reddy's remark that there was no need for 24-hour free electricity supply to farmers in the state.
Speaking to the media, BRS MLC K Kavitha said the Congress party in Telangana has allegedly stated that only 3 hours of power are sufficient for farmers, which she disagrees with. Kavitha argues that farmers cannot sustain themselves with only 3 hours of electricity. She further demands an apology from Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, to the farmers of Telangana if this is indeed the national policy of the party. She urges Rahul Gandhi to clarify his stance and declare whether this is the party's position across the country.
BRS workers burnt the effigy of Telengana Congress chief Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad earlier today.
BRS leaders and cadre, led by Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy, staged a protest on the Mumbai-Hyderabad highway at Isnapur on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that Revanth Reddy had hinted at the Congress bringing back the old days for the farming fraternity when farmers used to struggle due to a lack of sufficient power supply.
The MLA further stated that the Congress would discontinue most of the welfare schemes launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who had uplifted the lives of the poor by implementing numerous welfare schemes. According to him, if the Congress were to come into power, it would push the people back into misery again.
