New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy on Sunday, one day before the state votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, joined students at Hyderabad Central University (HCU) or the University of Hyderabad for a game of football. 


Reddy, who was busy with campaigning until Saturday, played a friendly football match with the students as he sought to rejuvenate and relax. For the match, he donned a jersey that read 'INDIA'. 







CM Revanth Reddy's fondness for football goes back to his youth, where he found solace and enjoyment in the sport, even though he never pursued it professionally. His favourite player is the legendary Argentinian Diego Maradona.

This is not the first time the Chief Minister has been caught on camera playing the game, The Hindu reported, adding that Reddy has never hidden his passion for the game, and expressed his love for the game with journalists several times when he was in the Opposition.


Congress MLC Venkat Balmoor, who organised a friendly match between party workers and the CM, was quoted as saying in The Hindu that the game served as a relaxation tool for the CM ahead of voting on Monday. 


Following the match, the Chief Minister and Congress workers came together for a photo session with students at HCU.


Reddy, 54, a former Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) member, became the Chief Minister of Telangana last year after leading the Congress to a comfortable majority in the assembly.
