In order to turn on the profile discovery, you first need to open the Google Messages app. Once you have opened the app then tap on your profile picture which will appear at the top right corner of the screen.
After clicking on the profile picture, head over to the 'Messages settings'. Locate 'Advanced' and click on it, then you need to click on 'Profile Discovery'. Enable the toggle there named 'Profile Sharing'.
