Telangana Govt To Order Judicial Probe Into Alleged Corruption in Kaleshwaram Project

Responding to Kishan Reddy, the minister raised questions about BJP leaders' lack of action over the past decade when the alleged Kaleshwaram project 'scam' transpired under the BRS rule at that time.

Telangana government announced that it would initiate a judicial inquiry into the alleged corruption associated with the Kaleshwaram project this week on Tuesday. The decision came in response to the challenge by BJP to seek a probe in the project. Earlier, Union Minister and Telangana BJP president Kishan Reddy challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to write to the Centre seeking a CBI inquiry on alleged corruption in the project in the state. 

During a press conference, Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy declared the commitment of the government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, to provide a transparent administration. He announced that a judicial inquiry into the matter would be initiated this week, ensuring that those found guilty would face consequences.

“The Congress government is committed to ordering a probe. The judicial inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project would commence this week, and those found guilty would not be spared,” he said, as per a report on PTI.

In response to Minister Kishan Reddy's allegations against the Congress government regarding the Kaleshwaram project, Uttam Kumar Reddy dismissed them as far from reality. He accused the BJP state president of misleading the public with misinformation about the Congress party.

Mocking Kishan Reddy's accusations, the minister raised questions about the BJP leaders' lack of action over the past decade when the alleged Kaleshwaram project 'scam' transpired under the BRS rule at that time.

On the alleged Kaleshwaram project scam, G Kishan Reddy said, "When Congress was in opposition, they used to demand a CBI inquiry on this. Today, when Congress is in power, I suggest they write a letter to the Central Govt and demand the same."

"I want to tell CM Revanth Reddy that if you want CBI action in the Kaleshwaram project then you should write to the Central Government. You write to the Central Government and we will start an investigation within 48 hours. If you don't do this then we will say that BRS and Congress are one because they are not coming forward to investigate this project," he said.
