A clandestine laboratory involved in the production of alprazolam, a banned drug under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, was dismantled in Nagar Kurnool District on Wednesday. The operation led to the confiscation of 31.42 kilograms of the illicit drug.


Acting on specific intelligence, authorities conducted a targeted operation at a remote poultry farm located amidst agricultural fields on the outskirts of Vattem village in Bijinepally Mandal. The raid successfully uncovered the makeshift laboratory engaged in the production of alprazolam. 


In addition to the seizure of 31.42 kg of alprazolam, valued at approximately Rs 3.14 crore in the illegal drug market, law enforcement also confiscated processing materials, machinery, and other equipment used in the manufacturing process.


The individual responsible for the alprazolam production has been apprehended, and ongoing investigations are underway to gather further information regarding the illegal operation.

Gold Worth Rs 1.8 Crore Concealed Inside Emergency Light Seized At Hyderabad Airport


On Wednesday, Smuggled gold valued at over Rs 1.81 crore was seized from a passenger who arrived from Dubai at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad. Based on a tip-off, the Customs Air Intelligence Unit of Hyderabad, RGIA, intercepted a male passenger who arrived from Dubai on Emirates flight EK-524 at 3 am.


During the search, customs officials found an emergency light. On thorough checking of the emergency light, gold weighing 2,915 grams was found concealed in the battery portion of the device. The gold recovered is valued at Rs. 1,81,60,450. The customs officials arrested the passenger under the Indian Customs Act, of 1962.
Further investigation is in progress.


On Tuesday, gold worth over Rs 1.13 crore was seized from three passengers who had arrived from Riyadh. On searching the passengers, gold in paste form was found to be concealed in their shoes. Gold weighing 1,818.98 grams valued at Rs 1,13,13,558 was seized.
