Hyderabad: A 54-year-old man pushed to an extent of committing suicide by a private hospital as they handed a whopping bill. The incident happened in Chaitanyapuri while the 54-year-old and his family in the outskirts of the city, Saroornagar.


10 days ago a family of three, Madhusudhan Reddy (54), his wife Manjula, and son Parthasarathy tested positive for Covid and have self-quarantined themselves in their house for a couple of days. But, after the severity of the infection, Madhusudhan and his family got admitted to a hospital treating Covid-19 patients in Kothapet. During the process of their treatment, they were informed that ₹5 lakh would be charged per person. His wife and son recovered from Covid and with the help of his relatives paid the bills charged by the hospital.

According to the reports in The New Indian Express, Madhusudhan has not recovered completely and the hospital started pressurising him about the payment. His relatives who were tightened financially after supporting him in paying bills for Parthasarathy and Manjula, couldn’t help him further. With mounting pressure from the hospital, Madhusudhan resorted to jumping off from the second floor of the hospital building, where he was undergoing treatment for Covid, on May 26 (Wednesday). He was rushed to another hospital in Kothapet but in vain. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment for wounds incurred due to jumping off from the hospital building on Thursday.
