Hyderabad: Ponds and canals are overflowing due to the heavy rains in Hyderabad. Hundreds of low-lying areas are flooded with sewage. Due to the high flow of rainwater in the Musi river, the Hyderabad traffic police shut down the Moosarambagh bridge on Tuesday.
Hyderabad traffic police issued an advisory saying, "Commuters, please make a note that due to the overflow of the Musi River on Moosarambagh bridge, the bridge is temporarily closed, and traffic is diverted on both sides. Those who want to cross either side of the bridge can use Chaderghat, Golnaka bridges and causeway."
Due to torrential rains in Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts, Musi and Kagna rivers flooded on a large scale, and houses and crops were submerged.

Late Tuesday night in Gandipet, a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) managed to rescue five family members who were trapped in the floodwaters of the Musi river. The family, which consisted of three women and a child, were stuck in a farm home in a riverbed on the outskirts of the city. After a five-hour rescue effort, the family was pulled from the flood waters at Gandipet with the assistance of the police.
South Zone DCP Sai Chaitanya led officials and AIMIM corporators visited the low-lying areas on Tuesday night and advised people to move to safe areas. People living near Musi River in Bahadurpura and Kishan Bagh areas were alerted.
