Hyderabad: Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad on Monday night, inundating low-lying areas and affecting traffic movement in parts of the city. Due to the heavy rain, Hayathnagar, Vanasthalipuram Gautami Nagar and Nagol Ayyappa Colonies in the LB Nagar area were flooded.
Hayatnagar corporator Kallem Navajeevan Reddy visited the colonies and instructed the Disaster Response Force team to start rescue operations.
The main roads in Khairatabad, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Nampally, Patabasti, Koti, Abids, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, Musheerabad, Kapra, HB Colony, Kushaiguda, Rayadurgam, Khajaguda, Kothapet, LB Nagar, Hayathnagar, Himayatnagar, Narayanguda are under knee-deep water.

The Hyderabad traffic police advised the people to stay home until the heavy rains and floods recede. The city Traffic Police alerted the commuters of possible traffic congestion in the city during peak office hours and urged them to defer their travel by at least an hour to allow rainwater to drain from the roads. In order to receive updates, the traffic police also encouraged people to get in touch with them via social media or by calling 8500411111.
Due to heavy rains, the Hyderabad Met Office has issued a yellow alert for many districts in Telangana. A yellow alert has been issued for the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Kamareddy and Mahbubnagar districts.
