Hyderabad police on Monday filed a charge sheet against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's sister and YSR Telangana Party president YS Sharmila in a case of assaulting police personnel. According to news agency IANS report, the police filed the charge sheet in the Nampally criminal court. The court has now issued a summons to Sharmila, directing her to appear before it. The Banjara Hills police had initially registered a case against Sharmila and her two drivers under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A case was registered under IPC sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from duty), 324 (voluntary causing hurt) 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 337 (Causing hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life, or the personal safety of others) against Sharmila and her driver.

The incident took place on April 24, when a police team visited Sharmila's house following information that she was planning to visit the office of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak. As there was no permission for her visit, the police personnel were trying to explain this to her. However, Sharmila allegedly sat in protest and assaulted the police personnel.
Additionally, one of Sharmila's drivers reportedly disobeyed the police order to stop the car and ended up hitting them, causing injuries to Constable Giribabu. Sharmila allegedly even assaulted two sub-inspectors and a woman constable during the incident.
