Hyderabad:  A 10-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool allegedly due to the pool management's negligence in Hyderabad's Chaitanyapuri limits. Manoj (10), who studied at a boarding school, came home for the summer holidays. On Sunday, he and his family visited his grandmother's place. To beat the heat, they went to a local swimming pool when tragedy struck.

Manoj jumped into the pool as his parents and others were keeping an eye on other kids. The boy drowned at the pool's deep end before the elders realised what was going on. The body was transported to Osmania Hospital for an autopsy.

Speaking on the incident, a family member of the boy said, "Manoj Kumar lives in Lingampally. He visited us during his summer break. We went to the Blue Fab Swimming Pool. The management claimed they didn't have safety tubes, so he entered the pool without safeguards and drowned. When we saw Manoj in the pool, we started shouting. The management people came after 10 minutes".

Chaitanyapuri police said a case was registered after the boy's mother filed a complaint. The body has been sent to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem.  Police have arrested the swimming pool operator. Further inquiry is underway.

"We have received information that the swimming pool doesn’t have permission operate. We have registered a case against Blue Fab Swimming Pool owner Ashok Goud. If anyone else is involved in this, we will also book a case against them, ANI quoted Chaitanyapuri Inspector as saying.
