Education Sector Needs More Efforts To Realise Our Goals Of Meeting Global Standards: Telangana Guv

Tamilisai Soundararajan stressed the need for further efforts in the education sector to meet not only national but also global standards.

Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan emphasised the state's advancements in economic development and stressed the need for further efforts in the education sector to meet not only national but also global standards. Speaking at the third Conference of Vice Chancellors of Telangana Universities on Monday, she expressed appreciation for the progress made by some universities in line with the agenda set in previous conferences. However, she expressed disappointment over the low rankings of certain universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), ANI reported.

Addressing the Vice Chancellors, she said as an academician “I understand the importance of providing quality education to the students”. The Governor advised the Vice Chancellors to focus on ensuring that colleges and universities have proper infrastructure such as washrooms, classrooms, libraries, and hostel facilities.

During the conference organised by the Raj Bhavan, the Governor unveiled the souvenir of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. Additionally, she inaugurated a digital library housing books related to various subjects for the benefit of students, including SCERT Telangana, IIT-JEE, NEET, Computer Science & Engineering, Medical Science & Healthcare, and Career Development & Recruitment (UPSC, RRB, SSC, IBPS).

The Vice Chancellors delivered detailed presentations on academic progress, NIRF and NAAC ratings, G-20, Y-20, Youth Red Cross initiatives, academic social responsibility, the adaption of tribal villages by universities and starting the innovative courses to meet the demands of the market and placements.

While appreciating the efforts of the Vice Chancellors on the progress of the universities, the Governor also listened to their concerns regarding the challenges they face in filling vacancies for lecturers and professors.
