Union Minister G Kishan Reddy paid a visit to Chengicherla village where he interacted with tribal individuals who were allegedly victims of a recent incident where members of two different communities were engaged in stone-pelting following a dispute over loud music near a religious site. Expressing his strong condemnation, the Union Minister tweeted about the reported midnight attack on the tribal community, including women, in Chengicherla village, Ghatkesar, Telangana.
On Monday , Kishan Reddy tweeted, "I strongly condemn the midnight attack by the fanatic communal mafia on Tribals including women at Changicharla village in Ghatkesar, Telangana yesterday."
"Visited the village and spoke to the victims, assured my full support in immediate medical treatment and in providing food. I call upon the authorities to immediately book the culprits, take stringent action and let the rule of law prevail," he tweeted.
According to the police, during pre-Holi celebrations on Sunday, one group utilized loudspeakers near a religious site. In response, members of another community, offering prayers, objected to the noise level and requested a reduction in volume, leading to verbal altercations. Subsequently, both groups, including women, engaged in physical altercations.
Police swiftly intervened and dispersed the groups. It was noted that the loudspeakers were operated without prior notification or authorization from law enforcement or relevant authorities. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is currently enforced in Telangana due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 13.
A senior official from the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate informed PTI that two cases have been filed, and investigations are ongoing. They assured that the situation remains under control.
