Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), expressed his agreement with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao's concerns regarding the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on population. Owaisi highlighted that this approach would lead to a significant injustice towards southern states that have effectively controlled their population in line with the policies of the Central government.

During a press conference, Owaisi argued that penalizing states for successfully managing their population growth is unfair. He questioned the rationale behind reducing parliamentary seats for states with a lower total fertility rate (TFR) than the national average.

The Hyderabad MP further questioned how states that have effectively controlled their population could be punished in a federal system by diminishing their parliamentary seats. This reduction would limit their influence in government formation at the national level.

Owaisi stressed the importance of finding a way forward that would not result in states losing their parliamentary seats solely because they have managed to control their population. He called for clarity from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Sangh Parivar on their stance regarding the delimitation issue. "They voice concern about the growing population. Now they should come forward and say what is their stand on this," he said.

Earlier, BRS Leader KT Rama Rao stated that the delimitation of Lok Sabha seats based on population after 2026 would be a gross injustice to the southern states. He urged leaders and citizens from all southern states to unite across political boundaries and collectively raise their voices against this perceived inequality.

KTR firmly asserted that the southern states, which play a pivotal role in national economic development and the progress of the country, must not be undermined by an inadequate Lok Sabha delimitation process. He emphasized the urgent need to address the grievances of the southern states, which face severe injustice despite their forward-thinking policies that benefit the nation.
