Ever been in a situation when you placed a Cash On Delivery (COD) order on Zomato and had to pay it online just because the delivery personnel did not have the change to return to you? It's quite a frustrating situation, you want to spend cash for whatever reason but end up having to drain your bank account by making that online payment. It looks like Zomato has heard our pleas and launched its Instant Balance feature.

This new feature, in simple words, would allow users to receive change directly into their Zomato Money account when they are paying cash for orders.

Deepinder Goyal Introduces The New Zomato Feature

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal, in a post on X wrote, "For cash on delivery orders, finding exact change can sometimes be inconvenient. Starting today, our customers can pay delivery partners in cash, and ask for the balance amount to be added instantly to their Zomato Money account. This balance can be used towards future delivery orders or dining out."

He thanked Tata Group-owned Bigbasket for being the inspiration behind this idea. Goyal wrote, "Thank you Bigbasket for the inspiration for this solution, and our delivery partners (three of them are working as product managers with us) for insisting that we develop this asap."

A number of Indians pay for their orders online, but there is still a sizable chunk of the population that prefers cash on delivery. This new feature will be useful in scenarios where an issue used to arise because the other person did not have any change.

At the moment, it is unclear as to for how long Zomato Money’s account balance can be used.
