X Gets Video And Audio Calling On Android. Here's How To Use the Feature

Elon Musk-owned X, formerly Twitter, is rolling out calling support and the update is currently available for Android smartphone users. The noteworthy aspect is that audio and video call support on X is free for all X users with the latest app update, which means users do not need an X premium subscription to make and recieve audio and video calls on the platform.

After being available for iOS users since October, the feature is now extending to Android users. Similar to the iOS experience, making outgoing calls requires an X Premium subscription, while users on the free tier can only receive incoming calls.

With the addition of this feature, much like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and other social networking apps, users on the micro-blogging platform X will also be able to make video and audio chat calls as X shifts to become an "everything app".

After renaming Twitter to X, Musk officially renamed the aggregating platform TweetDeck to XPro. The announcement of the renaming was made by Musk on July 28 through a tweet in which he stated, "Name is changing to XPro. Will come with a wide range of psy op plugins."

This update gives X users the ability to initiate video or audio calls with their relatives, contacts, or followers. The feature is integrated into the micro-blogging platform's settings and you can promptly enable or disable it for your account by following these steps.

How To Make And Recieve Audio And Video Calls On X

• Open X app on your Android device


• Go to the side bar and click on "settings and privacy"


• Go to direct messages (DMs)


• You should be able to see audio-video calling tab


• To use the calling feature, turn on the toggle

Earlier last year, tech billionaire Musk had confirmed that audio and video call features will soon be integrated into the platform. This feature eliminates the need for a phone number when making audio and video calls on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Video & audio calls coming to X: - Works on iOS, Android, Mac & PC - No phone number needed - X is the effective global address book. That set of factors is unique," Musk had announced.
