Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has recently been introducing some new and interesting features which have garnered quite some attention from users. As per recent reports, WhatsApp is now testing a new feature for its Channels tools which allows one-way broadcasting of updates. The updates at the moment are in the beta version of WhatsApp and they are expected to soon be available to everyone.

As per WABetaInfo, in the latest beta version (2.24.4.22) for Android, WhatsApp has added a new feature which allows the owner of a channel to transfer ownership to someone else. In simpler terms, it means that the current owner of a channel can choose a new owner from a list of eligible users and start the transfer process of ownership. If the new owner accepts the request sent by the original owner, then they will gain full administrative rights over the channel, including managing settings and information.

With the inclusion of this new feature, now users will have much more flexibility and control over their channels. They will be able to assign administrative duties to other users as needed, giving them the ability to even delete the channel, remove other administrators, and more. In a way, this feature offers a convenient way for users to manage their WhatsApp channels and ensure that they are in capable hands.

Rollout & Availability

The latest feature is currently undergoing a phased rollout, initially reaching a limited set of beta testers. In the upcoming days, a broader user base will gain access to this update. Users can experience the new feature by participating in the Google Play Beta Programme, and the update is identified as a compatible version.

It's worth noting that certain beta testers might already be enjoying the feature if they installed the previous update (2.24.4.20). However, for those who have updated but do not observe the feature, it might not be accessible to them at this moment.
