Mumbai Indians Emirates secured victory in the final of the second edition of the International T20 League (ILT20) by triumphing over the Dubai Capitals in the league's final match at the Dubai International Stadium on February 18 (Saturday). Having achieved a mammoth score of 208 in their designated 20 overs, the Emirates, under the captaincy of Nicholas Pooran, showcased disciplined bowling to overcome the Sam Billings-led Capitals with a convincing 45-run margin.
Having lost the toss, MI were assigned to bat first. The opening pair of Muhammad Waseem (43) and Kusal Perera (38) established a strong 77-run partnership. Subsequently, Andre Fletcher (53) and Nicholas Pooran (57*) extended the team's advantage, steering the game away from the opposition.
Ultimately, MIE posted a formidable total of 208-3 in their allotted 20 overs. Olly Stone, Sikandar Raza, and Zahir Khan each took one wicket for Dubai.
In response, Dubai could only score 163-7 in their 20 overs. Tom Banton (35), Sam Billings (40), and Jason Holder (24) were the main contributors. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Trent Boult took two wickets each for MIE.
