In a recent update, WhatsApp introduced the ability to pin messages in chats, allowing users to prioritise important information. Initially limited to one message, reports suggest that WhatsApp is now testing the option to pin up to three messages simultaneously, offering enhanced control over conversations. According to insights from Wabetainfo, this feature is currently being tested in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.6.15.

The update brings a revamped interface designed to streamline navigation through pinned messages, ensuring easy access and management.

How To Pin Messages On WhatsApp

The process of pinning messages on WhatsApp is quite straightforward and similar to pinning chats. One can pin their desired message on Android devices by simply tapping and holding the message, then selecting Pin and choosing the pin duration (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). Once you do this, that message will be pinned.

As for iPhone users, they will tap and hold the message, tap More options, then select Pin and choose the pin duration (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). After doing this, that message will be pinned on WhatsApp on their iPhones.

Notably, at the moment, the instant messaging platform only allows three pins. So when a user tries to pin a fourth message, WhatsApp automatically removes the oldest pinned message from the list.

This new feature allows users to highlight various types of content, such as important announcements, key reminders, or frequently referenced information, ensuring these messages are prominently displayed at the top of the chat interface. This not only streamlines communication but also eliminates the need to scroll through lengthy chat histories to find vital information.

WhatsApp Planning To Increase Pinned Chat Limit

Meanwhile, reports suggest that WhatsApp is planning to increase the limit for pinned chats. Currently, users can pin up to three conversations, a feature introduced in 2017. Additionally, users can pin three individual chats at the top. However, WhatsApp is expected to raise the pin limit to five chats, providing users with greater flexibility and convenience, particularly for frequent WhatsApp users. The ability to pin messages within a conversation is a relatively recent addition, introduced last year.

These features are currently available to select beta testers who have installed the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play store. A wider rollout to all users is anticipated in the coming weeks.
