Sources indicate that Kavitha may abstain from contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kavitha, who served as the MP for Nizamabad constituency from 2014 to 2019, is reportedly considering not participating in the upcoming polls. Kavitha also faced defeat in 2019 elections against BJP's Dharampuri Arvind. Currently, she serves as a member of Telangana Legislative Council.
On Wednesday, the BRS revealed its candidates for four Lok Sabha seats in Telangana with notable changes including the replacement of two incumbent Members of Parliament.
For Nizamabad, the BRS has chosen Bajireddy Goverdhan, a senior leader and former minister, as its candidate. The BJP has once again placed its confidence in Arvind, aiming to retain the seat.
The BRS's strategy also includes new nominations for other key constituencies. G. Anil Kumar has been named the candidate for Zahirabad, replacing the former BRS MP B.B. Patil who has since joined the BJP and will contest the seat on behalf of his new party.
The party has nominated Kadiam Kavya for the Warangal (SC) seat. Kavya is the daughter of senior BRS leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari.
Moreover, the BRS has decided to replace Chevella's sitting MP, G. Ranjith Reddy, with Kasani Gnaneshwar Mudiraj, a recent convert from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to the BRS, marking his political resurgence ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The selection of candidates came after comprehensive discussions led by KCR with party leaders.
