WhatsApp has recently been rolling out a number of updates. Since it is such a widely used platform, irrespective of how small the change is, it tends to always get noticed by the users. Recently, the instant messaging platform made changes to its user interface for iOS users and changed the traditional blue theme to green. The change started to roll out in February itself but now Indian users have also received the new update.

An increasing number of users are expressing their views on this latest change and it appears that the update is not being received well.

WhatsApp Turns Green

Users of iOS in India are now being updated to WhatsApp's latest version, featuring a green-themed interface instead of the typical blue. This change brings iOS in line with Android devices, which have always had a green interface in WhatsApp. From the status bar to the chat-list window, every aspect has undergone a design revamp.

As previously noted, this update began its rollout earlier this year but is now reaching a wider audience. Besides the icons, even the links shared within the app now sport a green colour instead of the traditional blue.

Meta earlier had revealed that the changes were to bring a "modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible as well as easier to use."

The Sun quoted WhatsApp as saying, "We’ve made some changes to how WhatsApp looks and feels, including spacing, colours, icons and more. These changes bring a modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible and easier to use."

Users Not Liking WhatsApp's Hulk Version

Unfortunately, the update is not optional and all users will eventually be shifted to the greener interface irrespective of whether they like it or not. Some users have already started expressing how they hate the green update on social media.

An X user posted, "What is this shade of green WhatsApp changed to?!!! Who's advising them?!!! nooo.. Ughhh nooo nooo."

A user wrote, "Really annoyed that WhatsApp has turned green .. is there any way of altering the settings to turn it back?"

A user compared it to a pharmacy app and wrote, "WhatsApp it was going so well till you decided innovation meant an all new green all over your app. Now it’s a pharmacy app."
