Two terrorists were killed and two Army personnel sustained injuries on Friday during a shootout between the terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. The encounter began on Thursday (April 25) at Check Mohalla Nowpora in the Sopore area of north Kashmir. However, it continued to its second day as a fresh exchange of firing started today after a night's lull, news agency PTI reported citing official sources.

 

The operation to eliminate the terrorists from the area in currently underway.

 

The injured army personnel have been shifted to a hospital for treatment, the officials told PTI.

 

According to officials, a civilian was also injured near the encounter site during the shootout. The injured civilian, identified as Farooq Ahmad was rushed to a hospital for medical treatement.

 

"So far, two terrorists were killed and two army personnel injured in the gunfight have been shifted to a hospital for treatment," the officials told PTI.

 

"The operation to flush out the terrorists from the area is underway," they added

 

Kashmir Zone Police also informed about the neutralisation of the terrrorists saying, "In the ensuing encounter, 2 terrorists have been neutralized. Identification & affiliation being ascertained. Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition recovered.'
















 

In a similar incident, a brief shootout occurred between terrrorists and security forces on Tuesday in Renji forest of Aragam in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora.








During the shootout, two soldiers sustained soldier injuries and were taken to the hospital. 


The incident occurred when the army was conducting searches in Renji forest's upper reaches of Bandipora after receving tip off of terrorists' presence. It was then that the hiding terrorists fired on the search party, resulting in two soldiers getting injured.  


Following the incident, more reinforcements have rushed to the spot and searches for hiding terrorists have been intensified.
