Meta-owned WhatsApp is developing a feature that will enable users to share their WhatsApp Status updates directly to Instagram, similar to the current ability to share Instagram Stories on Facebook. Currently being tested, this feature has been spotted in a beta version of the WhatsApp Android app. While no specific timeline for the release of the feature is provided, being in beta suggests the feature is headed for a rollout. WhatsApp updates tracking site WABetaInfo initially spotted this feature, which aligns with comany CEO Mark Zuckerberg's vision of cross-platform compatibility among Meta apps.
As per the WABetaInfo report that mentions the update 2.23.25.20 of WhatsApp beta for Android, the world's most-popular messaging platform is enhancing its status-sharing feature to be compatible with Instagram. The upcoming feature, expected to be introduced later, will be optional, allowing users to decide whether to share an update on Instagram.
According to the report, the upcoming feature on WhatsApp will lets to share their WhatsApp Status directly to Instagram without leaving the app. Much like the current option to post a Story on Instagram and Facebook simultaneously, this feature will allow WhatsApp users to update their Status and Instagram Story with just a single tap.
Meanwhile, Meta-owned WhatsApp has recently rolled out an interesting Secret Code feature, giving users an additional layer of privacy by enabling them to conceal locked chats through a personalised password. Upon installation, users can designate a unique code, potentially adorned with emojis, specifically for securing locked chats, distinct from the device unlock code.
WhatsApp, in an announcement last week stated: "Today we're launching secret code, an additional way to protect those chats and make them harder to find if someone has access to your phone or you share a phone with someone else."
This innovative feature serves to obscure the Locked Chats folder from the main chat list, with the ability to unveil it again by inputting the secret code into the search bar for effortless access.
Alternatively, users have the choice to retain the folder within the chat list. The process of locking chats has been streamlined, utilising a long-press action, eliminating the necessity to navigate through chat settings.
