Union Minister for Communications and Development of Northeastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, on Friday launched the theme 'The Future is Now' for the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024. This theme underscores India's pivotal role in the global technological revolution, promising to bring together visionaries and innovators from across the globe to showcase cutting-edge advancements and solutions.


According to a release by the Ministry of Communications, Scindia, in his keynote address, emphasised, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a country that followed the world in 4G, a country that marches with the world in 5G, our Bharat will now lead the world in 6G." He highlighted the transformative role of technology in bridging divides and creating opportunities, from the remotest villages to the urban centres of India.


“Technology is best when it brings people together. There can be no better example than our country Bharat,” he said. “It is technology and communications that will provide a platform of opportunities. Communications and networks will bring together the people from first village of India to the people of central villages of India,” he added.






Scindia stressed that the theme ‘Future is Now’ represents the country's capabilities, achievements, and the possibilities of the future.


He highlighted the revolutionary changes in the telecom sector in the last 10 years and remarked that India has transitioned from being a consumer of technology to now being a supplier of technology.


The Union Minister appreciated various telecom interventions such as The Telecom Act 2023, PLI Scheme, fastest 5G rollout, among other interventions and gave a commitment that the rules of The Telecom Act 2023 will be notified within the next 180 days.

About India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024


IMC 2024, scheduled from 15th October at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, will serve as a premier platform to display innovative solutions, services, and state-of-the-art use cases. The event aims to facilitate over 500 one-on-one meetings with more than 1000 potential investors, angels, incubators, and VC funds.


The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) launched a testing scheme for start-ups and MSMEs and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Jammu for capacity building in cybersecurity.


Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023


 Additionally, the DoT announced the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023, recognising exemplary contributions in telecom innovations, services, and manufacturing. The awardees include:



  • Dr. Kiran Kumar Kuchi, Professor IIT Hyderabad for advancements in telecom technology and mentorship.

  • Elena Geo Systems Private Limited for advancements in NavIC-based devices and applications.

  • Astrome Technologies Private Limited for pioneering millimetre-wave multi-beam technology.

  • Tejas Networks Limited for telecom innovations and equipment manufacturing.

  • Nivetti Systems Private Limited for contributions to secure networking products.


The Indian Mobile Congress 2024 application, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, was also launched. This interactive app combines AI technology with user-friendly features to enhance the visitor experience, the Ministry of Communications statedtech.


The eighth edition of IMC is set to host over 400 exhibitors and 640 start-ups, attracting more than 150,000 attendees, including delegates from over 120 countries. The event will feature over 900 technology use case scenarios, 100+ sessions, and talks by more than 600 speakers.


Concurrent with IMC 2024, India will host the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly New Delhi 2024 (WTSA 2024) and the Global Standards Symposium (GSS 2024) from 14-24 October at the same venue, the release informed.
