Navi Mumbai: The Anti Human Trafficking Cell of Navi Mumbai police busted a sex racket and arrested an auto rickshaw driver on Friday for his alleged involvement in it, an official told news agency PTI.
According to the report, a lodge was raided on Thursday night, on a tip off that was confirmed by a decoy.
The accused, Pradeep Yadav, was arrested by the Navi Mumbai police when he arrived at the spot with a victim in his three-wheeler, the APMC police station official stated.
The official added that the woman was rescued, while a hunt is underway for more people involved in the racket, the official added.
Sex Racket Busted In Thane
Another sex racket was busted by the police in Thane district on Wednesday, following which a Yemeni man was nabbed for allegedly helping four Thai women get fake Aadhaar and PAN cards to operate the racket.
One of the four women was taken into custody for allegedly running a prostitution racket in the Maharashtra district, PTI reported citing an official.
The accused Yemeni man has been identified as Bagdi Abdullah Mughd Saad, 42, from Pune on Tuesday.
A team of the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of Thane police acted on a tip-off and raided a hotel last week, from where Saad was arrested.
Three other Thai women were rescued from there, police told PTI.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shivraj Patil said that the police learnt during the probe that the accused had helped the four women in getting fake identities
The Thai woman and accused Saad were living in India even after their passports and visas had expired, the DCP said.
Police have now invoked the Foreigners National Act and upgraded the original FIR, he added.
In another similar incident, a sex racket was busted by the Nagpur Police. Two managers of a salon, from where the racket was allegedly being operated, were booked by the police.
